Los Angeles is still four years away from hosting the next summer Olympics, but California will see some of our best local athletes hit the world stage this month at the 2024 Paris Games. The region will send at least 118 statewide, with 32 from Los Angeles County, 16 from Orange County, and four from Riverside County.
In contrast, Florida has 46 Olympians and Paralympians competing as part of Team USA in Paris, and Texas has 44 athletes headed to the Olympics.
Historically, the United States has done the best at track and field, swimming and shooting at the Summer Olympics, with more gold medals in these categories than any other.
I have always been a huge fan of swimming and water polo. It's something I grew up with playing in high school and on club teams. I also love watching gymnastics. It just impresses me the way they can flip and turn like they do. What are the sports that you like wacthing?
